7th December 2009 – Recent Meeting

The most recent meeting in Tullie House Museum was provided with an excellent lecture by Dr Roger Sweeting of the Freshwater Biological Association, on the life-history, ecology and conservation of the Freshwater Pearl Mussel. A summary of the FBA Ark project to study and conserve the Pearl Mussel can be seen at http://www.fba.org.uk/index/projects.html

Among the records relayed at the CNHS meeting of 2nd December was a report of a female Long-tailed Duck on Talkin Tarn, which had been seen earlier that day and reported to Stephen Westerberg. The bird was seen there again today (3rd December) by Bob Jones.
