leaf mines in globeflower on: June 29, 2010, 21:38
Watch out for leaf mines in Globeflower leaves. Last summer I found some leafmines in Globeflower leaves at Gowk Bank. Each contained a sawfly larva and I reared a couple through over the winter. The adults have emerged and are Pseudodineura enslini. This species is rare in England and apparently has not been reported from cumbria before. I would be pleased to hear about any Globeflower sites which I might visit to search for leaf mines. Also, if you come across any Globeflower please look for leaf mines and if possible send me a photo and/or a leaf. I plan to write a note on this subject for the Carlisle Naturalist.
